May 3rd

Our first morning was early as expected with the time zones.  We headed out for Breakfast to a place recommended by Stephanie and Terry (Dick and Carol daughter and hubby who have a condo on Kauai).

After a fantastic breakfast we drove most of the morning to get up to the top of Waimea Canyon State Park (Hawaii version of the Grand Canyon).  A 2 mile hike from the parking view area to another across a peak.

Chickens everywhere you go on the island.  Domestic chickens got loose during a past hurricane and now run free range everywhere.  I mean everywhere.

After the Na Poli coast side visit to the state park we headed down and ended up having late lunch in Port Allen at the Kauai Brewery.  Ate outside and watched the sites.

After lunch there was a short hike from the brewery to the glass beach.  Walk past fuel storage tanks and a power plant.  After the beach visit we trekked off to see where Stephanie and Terry's condo was located on the SE side of the island.  From there to Walmart for a few items and back to the hotel.

A little breather, then Tiki Bar and off to eat.  The first local turned out to be a bust, so we stopped at Bubba's for burgers.  Jeff got the Slopper (chili ladled all over a cheeseburger and Janie a double bubba burger).  Yummy.

Back to the hotel for a little down time and slumber land.
